Dr. Gregory Welch graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1983. After research work in Neonatology at Brown University, he received his MD from Brown in 1988. Dr. Welch completed his Pediatrics Residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served four years in Germany as a general pediatrician in the United States Army where he was the Medical Director of the Armed Services Child Abuse Team. After returning to Germany and the Army in 2000 as a neonatal hospitalist for 2 years, Dr. Welch completed his Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his 26 year military career at the Navy Medical Center in San Diego as the Director of Neonatal Residency Education and Simulation. Since his military retirement in 2013, Dr. Welch has worked at 19 different Neonatal Intensive Care Units throughout the country. He was the director of the Regional Resource Team for Mednax prior to taking over as Medical Director in El Paso in 2018.
